IPAMORELIN

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide and selective agonist of the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1a), originally characterized as the first highly selective growth hormone-releasing peptide to demonstrate minimal off-target activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Preclinical pharmacological profiling established that, unlike earlier GHRPs, ipamorelin does not significantly elevate ACTH or cortisol at doses more than 200-fold above its GH-releasing ED50, an attribute that has made it a preferred probe compound in research contexts requiring isolated examination of GHSR-mediated GH secretion. Its mechanism involves mimicry of ghrelin at the GHSR-1a, triggering pituitary somatotroph signaling through pathways convergent with but distinct from the GHRH receptor pathway.
