PINEALON

Pinealon (Glu-Asp-Arg, EDR) is a synthetic tripeptide bioregulator isolated from Cortexin, a polypeptide complex derived from bovine brain cortex, studied primarily within the neuroprotection and neuroregulation research space. Structurally, Pinealon is hypothesized to cross both the cell membrane and nuclear envelope due to its small molecular weight, enabling direct interaction with chromatin and modulation of gene expression related to neuronal functional maintenance and apoptosis suppression. Preclinical investigations have examined effects on hippocampal morphology in Alzheimer’s disease models, circadian rhythm normalization, and behavioral outcomes including memory and motor coordination following oxidative stress injury.
